
I would like to make a new device for the want, where I can ajust the want rod - mine is fixed and I can´t change it ( see the foto) I heard from a German sailor that the hammering against the hull would stop if I twisted the want af few deg. but i can´t .
Before I make a new device I would like to know how big the distance should be from where it pivots to where the horisontal pusrod connects ( on this one it is 35 mm)

It depends on your foils and the gearing on them. Measure how much rod movement you need to get full movement of the flap. Then design your wand to give you full down lift when it points down and full up lift when lowriding. You should have the flap in the middle when the wand is about 45 degrees. However this is something to trim and tune...
Thanks for your comment. It sounds reasonably and I can do it that way, but this leads me to the next question: what is a normal messure for total moment of the flap messured in degrees. Why I am asking this is because I have the suspicion that I don´t have enough lift, when I intent to go for a lift off I have to sit very far back in the boat to initiate more lift. I know that there can be lots of reasons to that, one of them could be that I have had loss of efficiency in the rodsystem forinstance the becrank in the top of centerboard, which I have redone. Now it moves nicely and without any loss, the holes were to big and had to much play compared to the pins. I am now waiting for a day with nice weather to test it. (We are off season mostly with very windy conditions and cold too).
Another reason could be to much lift on the rudder but then again I don´t want to have the nose up to much when first foiling
May be I don´t realy understand when to alter the rudder angel.

jeg har tumlet med samme problem med at wanden slår mod fribord. ved at flytte den ud så den løber langs stævn, samtidig mef at jeg gjorde den stivere blev det godt.
Den erfaring jeg her gjort er at der overhovedet ikke må være noget slør i systemet, samtidig med flappens forløb er meget afgørende. flappens udformning er har også meget at sige.
jeg har er ved at ændre wand på min gamle jolle, hvis du har lyst så kom op. tag skivet med, så sejler vi en tur.
